| Further Information | This area of the ballast hills was upgraded to a garden area for the people of South Shields. On the left is the area previously occupied by Brigham and Cowan's shipyard. The area is being prepared for the building of flats and houses. Across the river, on the right, is Smith's shipyard and on the left is the International Ferry Landing for DFDS, with one of their ferries alongside. |
