Further Information Opened in 1925 the Cleadon Open Air Scholl was intended to provide disadvantaged children with fresh air, alleviating their poor health and preventing the spread of TB Tuberculosis. Lessons took place in classrooms where the walls were glazed moveable screens which provided access to the open air. The curriculum also included lots of outdoor activities such as gardening, nature studies and P.E. The children received a weekly bath at the school and there was an emphasis on their being well-fed. The school became Bamburgh School in 1982 when it moved to its new site on Norham Road.
