| Further Information | A view of the rear of Ocean Road taken from either Winchester Street or Saville Street during the slum clearances and redevelopment of South Shields in the early 1960s. Temporary prefab houses were erected on the site of Denmark Street and Catherine Street. The Congregational Church on the corner of James Mather Street can be seen in the distance. Ocean Road School is on the opposite side of the street. The dome of the Marine School can also be seen on the left. |
