Further Information | At 21.40 hours on the 30th of September indiscriminate bombing occured when two 1,000kg bombs fell in the Westoe area. Two bombs also fell in the Chichester Road area, causing havoc and some fatalities. one hit the rear of some tenement houses in George Potts Street; the backs of the properties were blown off but the fronts showed little damage. This house was damaged by a length of rail flung 800ft from Harton Colliery Railway,(the end of George Potts Street). |
