Further Information King street, Woolworth's site after bombing on the 2.10 1941. A stack of bombs dropped on the Market Place. Cans of burning oil and paint from Dunn's Paint shop were hurled into the air causing fires in many market premises.
A leaking gas main caused Crofton's Drapery Stores to burn and in a very short time the fire spread to Woolworth's store which was
completely gutted.
