Further Information | King street, Woolworth's site after bombing on the 2.10 1941. A stack of bombs dropped on the Market Place. Cans of burning oil and paint from Dunn's Paint shop were hurled into the air causing fires in many market premises. A leaking gas main caused Crofton's Drapery Stores to burn and in a very short time the fire spread to Woolworth's store which was completely gutted. |
