Further Information | The tug 'Conquerer' with T.I.C. 'Dredger' and 'Satellite'. The Tug 'Conquerer' was built in 1884 with an iron clad hull. She was originally used for Thames Towing and excursion work, then spent some years under the French flag before starting a long period of service on the North East Coast. When scrapped in 1956 she was the last of the Tyne Paddle tugs with two funnels abreast. Previous name: Conquerant; owners France Fenwick Builders: Hepple and Company, North Shields, 1884 |
