| Further Information | HMS Cavalier, the last destroyer from the 2nd World War, was bought by South Tyneside Coucil for £91.000. in 1987. Here she is in what was the dry dock at Hawthorn Leslies Yard in Hebburn. It was hoped that she would be the centre piece of a Maritme History Centre based at the yard. However the centre did not materialise and after eleven years she was sold to The Historic Dock Yard Chatham, Kent. |
