Further Information | On the night of 9 April between 23.25hrs and 04.30hrs on the morning of 10 April 1941, two bombs were dropped on Clivedon (Clyveden) Rise. Then came a shower of incendiaries, an estimate of 6,000 fell on the Tyne Dock area throughout the centre of town and over the Mile End Road, River Drive and Wapping Street districts. It soon became clear that a full scale attack was developing and directed mainly at the ship building, ship repair and timber yards on the river. This photo shows the Railway Station following this night/morning of destruction. |
