Further Information | Chapman & Furneaux, Gateshead, 0-6-2 Tank locomotive, "No.7" For the Harton Coal Company. (South Shields, Marsden and Whitburn Colliery Railway). On Boxing day 1906 this engine suffered a boiler explosion, whilst working between Whitburn Colliery and Harton. Both the driver (Thomas Elliott) and fireman (William Archer) were badly scalded. The locomotive was sold to the Bowes Railway in 1912 where it worked until 1923. it was scrapped later that year. |
