Further Information | Black and white photograph showing T I C Yard, South Pier. Trucks were those used for transporting stone pier blocks. Railway originally ran from Trow Quarry to Pier Yard. At far right, lifting gear for stone blocks. Chains and tackle at left are used for securing T I C mooring buoys to river bed. Buildings in left background include former stables, when horse drawn transport was extensively used. Still remaining are a set of grain scales, used for horses feed. Pier blocks are now pre-cast concrete, about 40 tons in weight. |
