Further Information | Locomotive built by Robert Stephenson & Co. one of six for Killingworth Colliery. It was rebuilt in 1867 and was in regular service until 1881 when it was presented to the city of Newcastle upon Tyne by Sir Charles Mark Palmer, on the occasion of the centenary of George Stephenson's birth. It stood on the North end of the High Level Bridge until 1896 when it was moved to the Central Station, Newcastle. In 1945 the old locomotive was placed in the Science Museum, Newcastle Exhibition Park . |
