| Further Information | South Shields Town Hall in the centre of the photograph before the later extension was added. The new Woodbine Estate on the top left and Westoe Colliery, top right with the old line running from the colliery to Harton Staith. Crossing that line is the old South Shields to Newcastle passenger railway line that ran round the gasometer to High Shields Station at Laygate. Westoe Cemetery on the right and the two Marine Parks are at the top of the picture. |
