Further Information | A real wintry scene showing St Hilda's Church, South Shields. This is the oldest church in South Shields and the original parish church of the town, dating from the 7th century, and rebuilt around 1580. A corner of the Market Place is shown with the metal frames of the stalls ready for the next market day. A general market takes place on Saturday and Monday each week, and a Flea Market operates on Fridays. |
