Further Information | This picture of the Market Place shows St Hilda's Church in the centre of the screen. To the right of the old Town Hall is the public toilet which, during the war, was protected by sand bags as an air raid precaution. A police telephone call box is adjacent. In the distance can be seen Saint Hilda's Colliery. The post in the foreground is supporting the trolley bus wires. |
