Further Information | Tug Joffre, a Lawson tug, ashore at Bull Tail Rock, Prawle Point Devon on 27 May 1925. Captain Hodge died after being brought ashore. W Thurlbeck, Mate, believed to have received an award on parchment from Royal Humane Society. Vessel was expected to be a total loss but was later salvaged. Built at Ardrossan in 1916. Towed to Bo'ness, Firth of Forth, to be broken up on 21 March 1965. 115' x 26' beam. 12'6" draft. 260 Tons. Engines 18' x 28 1/2" x 46". |
