| Further Information | A purpose built loading conveyor, built by Kenray Engineering Ltd, South Shields, in operation at North Dock, Sunderland. Lorries dropped their loads into a hopper, which carried the limestone up a 95ft fixed conveyor belt. It then dropped on to a 45ft, Lughing conveyor, which can be raised and lowered with the tide, and into the ship. |
