Further Information | A refrigerated cargo ship built as the Camana for Camana Shipping Co Ltd built by Dunlop, Bremner and Company, Port Glasgow during 1917. She was later sold to the Blue Star Line Ltd and renamed Celtic Star This image dates between 1929 and before 1935 when she had a larger,wider funnel fitted. She was torpedoed and sunk on the 30th March 1943 by the Italian submarine, Giuseppe Finzi, off Freetown, Sierra Leone carrying 4450 tons of cargo. Two crew members were lost. |
