Further Information | One of our own vessels built at the West Docks, SS Queenmoor caught fire at Aden in the early 1930s. The fire was extinguished by a salvage boat which can be seen in the background of the top picture. The damaged vessel proceeded under her own steam to the continent and discharged the remainder of her cargo. On returning to this country, she came alongside Readhead's Quay and was dry docked. Very extensive repairs were carried out, as can be seen from the photograph. Last photograph shows the vessel leaving the port on completion. |
