| Further Information | The 15,000 metric ton container ship Atlantic-Causeway after being launchd from Walker Shipyard of Swan Hunter Ship Builders. The vessel was for a new transatlantic container-cargo service operated by Atlantic Container Lines, a consortium of British, Dutch, French and Swedish shipping companies, which includes the Cunard Line. The Atlantic-Causeway was the first ship to be built on the Tyne under the metric system. A sister ship to the Atlantic-Causeway and two other container ships for other owners were also built metric at the Walker yard. |
