Further Information | Large brick beacon ( leading mark) on the Lawe top, South Shields. Ships would line the two beacons up when crossing the Tyne Bar to enter the River Tyne. This was before the piers were built and the river dredged. In the background an old steam trawler at the Lloyds Hailing Station on the Northside of the river. |
