| Further Information | The dock was opened on 3rd March 1859. Twenty shipping places were at first at work on the two jetties. The other two being utilised for the delivery of ballast and goods. Anticipation was more than realised in regards to the dock and within a month 100 vessels were observed in the dock in one day. |
