| Further Information | Robert Ingham was elected the first Member of Parliament for South Shields in 1832. After his retirement in 1868 it was decided that a Public Subscription be set up with the express purpose of building a place of healing to be called the Ingham Infirmary. Born 1793, died 21st October 1875. |
