Further Information | The Town Hall, south shields decorated for the celebration of the Coronation of George VI and Elizabeth. The phone box in the image is a cream colour which was known as 'Clipsham Stone'. It is a concrete Kiosk No3 with glazing bars and a door painted Post Office Red. The model was installed throughout the UK between 1929 and 1935, when something like 11000 units were erected. The road on the left is now Beach Road, with the tower of St John's Church just visible. |
