Further Information | Mr Peter Bottomley, M.P. (Minister for Transport) extolling the virtues of the new road he was about to open on South Tyneside. The £5.4 million project was the new Western Approach road from Tyne Dock to the Town Centre of South Shields. This picture was taken under the British Rail bridge at the Tyne Dock end of the 1.9 km road. Looking on are the M.P. for South Shields, Dr David Clark; a representative of Mowlem Construction, contractors for the road building; aand the Mayor of South Tyneside, Cllr Albert Tate. |
