Further Information | The cast of South Shields Unemployed Drama Group, who were based at Zion Hall, in costume for the play The Merchant of Venice. The play was a Pageant play performed by the in the grounds of Undercliffe, Cleadon, the home of Col. Robert Chapman and Mrs Chapman. Colonel Chapman was the the President of the South Shields Unemployed Committee at the time. The play was directed by Mr Gordon Lea. |
