Further Information | The S.S. Circassion, of the Prince Steam Shipping Company Limited which was founded in 1884 by James Knott. By 1898, 38 ships were owned and the company was redesignated Prince Line Limited. In 1916 the company was bought by Furness Withy. The reason the line was sold was James Knott had 3 sons, two of which were killed in action in the Great War and the third posted missing, only later to be discovered in a Prisoner of War camp in Gallipoli.
