| Further Information | An aerial view Hebburn Palmer's yard owned by Vickers- Armstrong. At that time it was the largest dry dock on the North-East coast. The dock had the widest entrance of any dry dock in the United Kingdom. It was 850 feet long and 145 feet wide. It could take tankers of up to 85,000 tons and passenger liners. It was in use from April 1962. |
