Further Information | A view of Station Road, South Shields looking north towards the Market Place. The square building on the right is the Old Pigeon Well in St. Hilda's Colliery Yard. It was used to pump water to fill the large water tower in St Hilda's Colliery Yard. The tall chimney in the background was part of Cookson's Glass Works. Opposite the Well, on the left hand side of the road was the Goods Station. |
