Further Information | Black and white photograph showing Binns department store on the corner of King Street and Russell Street. The store was on four floors - there was the basement (housing wallpaper, toys and at Christmastime the place for Santa's Grotto), ground floor (perfumes, wool, electrics, childrens clothes, menswear, Delicatessen, and fruit) first floor (ladieswear, ladies shoes and underwear) and second floor with restaurant, hairdresser, curtains, towels etc). There were four doors into Binns - two in King Street - one into the perfumes and another into the Menswear section. In the side street there was a middle door and also another at the back which led down into the basement or to the ground floor |
