| Further Information | Black and white photograph of the offices of the Gas Company in Chapter Row in late 1939. The offices were taken over as the South Shields Air Raid Precaution Centre and ended their existence as the Corporation Housing Offices. The tall building at the end of Chapter Row was the offices of the Sunderland and South Shields Water Company. Buildings were demolished to make way for the dual carriageway. |
