| Further Information | 'Wandering Willie' was a colliie dog who, after the death of his owner, waited at the Penny Ferry landing for years, hoping his owner would return. He would not leave the ferry landing. A statue was created in his honour and this photograph appeared in the Shields Gazette in April 1954. Wandering Willie died 1882. |
