| Further Information | The Reverend Gerry Griffin (Transport Chaplain of the Northumbrian industrial Mission) leads the ceremony of scattering the ashes of Mr William (Billy) Reid. Mr Reid of Mansfield lived in Hebburn for many years and worked on HMS Kelly. As a dying request he asked for his ashes to be scattered on the Tyne, where he worked for so many years. Mr Reid died on 30 January 1987. |
