Further Information This magnificent interior is that of The Royal Assembly Rooms which
had two entrances one on Ocean Road and the other on Mile End Road,
Originally built as an adjunct to the adjacent Royal Hotel( Ship and
Royal) as it also contained accomodation rooms. The Assembly Hall
opened in the 1890s the architect being Mr. J.H.Morton
