Further Information | The lodge at Whitburn Hall. The Hall can be seen in the background right. The house was originally built in the 16th Century and considerably enlarged between 1598 -1631. In 1719 it was purchased by Sir William Williamson, in whose family it remained for 200 years. An extra wing was added at this time and considerably extended in the early 19th century. The final structural improvements took place in the 1880s when the facade of the east wing was enhanced by the long windows and a cast iron balcony. |
