Further Information | Field House. situated at the top of Salmon Street, South Shields was the home of Mr. Fairles, magistrate and mine owner of this town, who was murdered on the 11th June 1832 near Tyne Dock Arches. William Jobling, a miner who was present during the attack was executed and became one of the last people to be gibbeted on a gallows at Jarrow Slake as an example to others. |
