Further Information | This photograph of Shadwell Street is possibly one of the oldest in the library collection. It shows what was possibly the oldest house in Shields until demolition in the mid 1930s. The crest on the far left over the door shows the Royal Coat of Arms of the period. It is supposed that the building was the appointed place for the collection of Customs Duties |
